Visa card maker Scheels Visa Login has confirmed that it will be accepting pre-pay Visa cards for travellers from Australia, but will only accept pre paid cards if the card holder has a visa.
The card holder must first prove that they are currently in Australia.
“We are working with Visa Australia and the Department of Immigration and Border Protection to ensure that pre-paying Visa cards are compliant with our Visa Card Scheme,” Scheels said in a statement.
“Pre-paid cards will be subject to a processing and verification process for verification.

In a world of rapidly evolving consumer behaviour, Visa is a valuable resource for travellers who are keen to visit the countries of their choice and to earn their visa.
“A spokesperson for Scheels declined to comment on the future of pre-purchased Visa cards.
It comes after the Visa Department said it was working to strengthen the visa card scheme.”
There are a number of new rules and procedures that Visa Australia is taking to ensure Visa cards can be processed quickly and efficiently, with minimum risk to our customers and our staff,” Visa said in its statement.
The spokesperson added that Visa would also review the existing visa card system.”
The Department of Visa Australia continues to work with Visa to ensure the Visa Card System remains compliant with all applicable Australian laws, regulations and policies,” the spokesperson said.
The ABC has contacted Visa for comment and will update this story when we hear back.
The Australian Federal Police also confirmed it was looking into the Scheels’ statement.
